VISA REGIME

Nationals of Montenegro may enter, pass through and stay in Luxembourg for up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.

DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

Relations between Montenegro and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg are friendly and partnership. Luxembourg has strongly supported Montenegro's NATO membership and continues to provide expert assistance in accession negotiations with the EU. A special link between Montenegro and Luxembourg is represented by numerous emigrants from Montenegro who are well integrated into Luxembourg society and contribute to the prosperity of the country.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg recognized Montenegro's independence on June 14, 2006, and diplomatic relations were established on September 21, 2006.

The Embassy of Montenegro in Brussels is in charge of the diplomatic representation of Montenegro in Luxembourg. 

Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Montenegro, on a non-resident basis (based at the Foreign Ministry of Luxembourg) Filip Donkel, assumed this duty on November 2, 2019.

BILATERAL HIGH LEVEL MEETINGS 

President of the House of Representatives of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Fernand Etgen, paid an official visit to Montenegro, on November 5, 2019.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof Srđan Darmanović, PhD, paid paid an official to Luxembourg on April 26, 2018.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, paid an official visit to Montenegro on March 30, 2017.

Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ivan Brajović, paid paid an official to Luxembourg on December 14, 2016.

Prime Minister Milo Đukanović paid an official visit to Luxembourg on March 24, 2014.

ECONOMIC COOPERATION

In 2020, total commodity exchange with Luxembourg amounted to EUR 772 thousand, of which EUR  569 thousand worth of imports, and EUR 203 thousand worth of exports. In 2019, total commodity exchange with Luxembourg amounted to EUR 1.04 million out of which EUR 891 thousand worth of imports, and EUR 113 thousand worth of exports.

In 2020, direct investments from Luxembourg to Montenegro amounted to EUR 6.9 million. In 2019, direct investments from Luxembourg to Montenegro amounted to EUR 2.86 million. In 2018, direct investments from Luxembourg to Montenegro amounted to EUR 8.13 million.

In 2020, there were 389 tourists from Luxembourg, who visited Montenegro, and this resulted in total of 1345 overnight stays. In 2019, there were 1,413 tourists from Luxembourg, and this resulted in a total of 5,988 overnight stays.
