Visa regime

Nationals of Greece may enter, pass through the territory of and stay in Montenegro up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.

Nationals of Greece may enter, pass through the territory of and stay in Montenegro up to 30 days, without a visa, with a valid identity card issued by the competent authority of Greece.


Montenegro and Greece have traditionally friendly relations that were established during the Principality of Montenegro. The first diplomatic mission of Greece was opened from 1881 to 1883, headed by Alexander Logotetis, who was the consul general in Cetinje. The Greek consulate was reopened in 1896, and was headed by Evgenije Evgenijades from 1909 to 1916.

Political relations between Montenegro and Greece are based on the principles of openness, continuous cooperation in many areas and mutual support at the regional and international level. The two countries share foreign policy priorities, successfully cooperate within NATO structures, and since the Montenegrin independence, Greece has provided continuous support to our country in the context of European integration.

Diplomatic relations

Greece officially recognized Montenegro on June 14, 2006. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on December 18, 2006.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to Greece is Ms. Ana Vukadinović (assumed this duty on September 26, 2018).

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Montenegro is Mr. Panayotis Partsos (assumed this duty on December 10, 2019).

Economic indicators

The total trade in the period Januar-Novembar 2022 between Montenegro and Greece amounted to EUR 270,1 million (exports EUR 1,3 million, imports EUR 268,8 million). The trade in 2021 between Montenegro and Greece amounted to EUR 159,1 million  (exports EUR 11,2 million, imports EUR 147,9 million). The trade in 2020 between Montenegro and Greece amounted to EUR 95 million (exports EUR 4,34 million, imports EUR 90,66 million). The trade in 2019 between Montenegro and Greece amounted to EUR 158,23 million, showing decrease compared to 2018 when trade amounted to EUR 169,54 million. 

The total influx of foreign direct investments from Greece in the period January-November 2022 amounted to EUR 940 thousand. In 2021 direct investments from Greece amounted to EUR 452 thousand. In 2020 and 2019, there were no direct investments from Greece. In 2018. direct investments from Greece amounted to  EUR 952 thousands. 

There were 5,918 tourists from Greece who visited Montenegro, who realized 12,467 overnight stays in the period January-November 2022. In 2021, 2,215 tourists from Greece visited Montenegro, with 8,517 overnight stays. In 2020, 687 tourists from Greece visited Montenegro, with 1.319 overnight stays. In 2019,  7,332 tourists from Greece visited Montenegro, with 15,346 overnight stays. In 2018, 7,528 tourists visited Montenegro, with 15,782 overnight stays.
