Vizni režim

Nationals of Iran are required to obtain a visa to enter Montenegro.

Visas may be obtained from diplomatic and consular posts of Montenegro. If an applicant is unable to reach a diplomatic or consular post of Montenegro, you may apply for a visa at the nearest diplomatic or consular post of the Republic of Serbia.

Diplomatic Relations

Iran recognized Montenegro on July 7, 2006. Diplomatic relations established on July 28, 2006.

The presenting of the credentials of Periša Kastratović, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to the Islamic Republic of Iran (based in Ankara), to the President of Iran H. Rohani is scheduled for February 24, 2021.

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Montenegro, Rashid Hassan Pur Bai, (based in Belgrade), presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, on February 2, 2021.

Political Contacts

On 16 July 2012, Ali Asghar Khaji, President Ahmadinejad's Special Envoy, visited Podgorica to invite President Filip Vujanović to take part in the Non-Aligned Summit in Tehran (31 August 2012).

On January 19 and 20, 2011, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Ali Ahani, visited Podgorica - as part of political consultations in our region and had talks with the Vice President of the Assembly Rifat Rastoder and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen.

On May 24, 2010, Ali Al Baldavi, the head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iran's mission for the former Yugoslavia, paid a visit to Montenegro.

In February 2007, Ali Bagheri, Director General for Northern and Central Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, accompanied by a delegation, visited Montenegro and met with the Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Rifat Rastoder, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Foreign and Internal Affairs.

On February 24-28, 2018, members of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro visited Tehran, at the invitation of the Iranian side.

On November 2, 2017, an Iranian delegation, led by the President of the Iranian Friendship Group Parvaneh Salahshuri, paid a visit to Montenegro.

On September 23, 2017, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, a bilateral meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Srđan Darmanović and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammed Xhevad Zarif.

In September 2015, Deputy Prime Minister / Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Muhammad Zarif, on the sidelines of the 70th session of General UN Assembly (New York), which stated that there are good opportunities for improving bilateral cooperation between the two countries, given the cooperation that the Yugoslavia had with Iran, especially in the fields of economy and industry.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

Trade in 2018 amounted to € 314.891 and the total amount referred to imports (fruits, vegetables and their products; salt, sulfur, stone, gypsum and their products; coffee, tea; furniture, etc.).
