Visa regime
Nationals of Ireland may enter, pass through the territory of and stay in Montenegro up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.
Nationals of Ireland may enter, pass through the territory of and stay in Montenegro up to 30 days, without a visa, with a valid identity card issued by the competent authority of Ireland.
Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Ireland are based on the principles of friendly cooperation and understanding. Ireland seeks to contribute to the successful continuation of democratic, economic and overall social reforms in Montenegro by supporting the process of European integration.
Diplomatic relations
Ireland recognized the independence of Montenegro on June 20, 2016, when diplomatic relations were established between the two countries.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland to Montenegro, based in Budapest, is Mr. Ronan Gargan (assumed this duty on July 9, 2020)
The Montenegrin Embassy in London is in charge of diplomatic representation in Ireland.
Bilateral meetings
So far, there has been no exchange of visits at the level of the three presidents, as well as at the level of foreign ministers.
Economic indicators
In the period January - October 2021, the imports from Ireland amounted 22 milion euros, while exports amounted to 9 thousand euros. In 2020, imports from Ireland amounted to 5.7 million euros, while exports amounted to 6 thousand euros.
In the period January - October 2021, investments from Ireland amounted 1,41 milion euros. In 2020, investments from Ireland amounted to 1,11 million euros.
In the period January - October 2021, Montenegro was visited by 986 Irish tourists, who spent 2,660 overnight stays. In 2020, Montenegro was visited by 434 Irish tourists, who spent 1,147 overnight stays.
