Visa regime

Nationals of Mexico may enter, pass through the territory of and stay in Montenegro up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.

Diplomatic relations

Montenegro and teh United Mexican States have traditionally friendly relations based on full respect and readiness to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Mexico recognized Montenegro's independence on 19 July 19 2006. Diplomatic relations between Montenegro and Mexico were established on 5 June 2007.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to Montenegro, based in Belgrade, is Carlos Isaur Felix Corona (still has not submitted credentials) while Montenegro covers Mexico on a non-resident basis from Washington, currently at the level d’affaires.

Official visits

Since Montenegro's independence, there have been no high-level and top-level bilateral visits between Montenegro and Mexico.

Economic cooperation

Trade between Montenegro and Mexico is characterized by a constant deficit, which is a consequence of much higher imports compared to exports from Montenegro. During 2020, trade between Montenegro and Mexico amounted to EUR 0,8 million (all relates to imports), while in 2019 trade amounted to EUR  2,7 million (all relates to imports).
