Diplomatic Relations Overview

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan officially recognized Montenegro on June 30, 2006. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on October 23, 2006.

The credentials of the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Montenegro, on a non-resident basis (based in Budapest), Muhammad Aejaz, are expected to be presented.

Political Contacts

Undersecretary for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Ayesha Riyaz and Ambassador Kasim Raza Muttaqi met with Secretary General Predrag Stamatović and State Secretary for Political Affairs at the MFAEI, Ambassador Vladimir Radulović, on March 29, 2013 in Podgorica (as part of the farewell visit).

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

In the period January - December 2020, between Montenegro and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, trade amounted to 553.074 € (data refers exclusively to imports). In the period January - December 2019, trade between Montenegro and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan amounted to  2.963.380 € (data refer exclusively to imports).

In 2018, trade between Montenegro and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan amounted to 1.339.691 € (of which imports amounted to  1.260.499 € and exports to  79.192 €). In 2017, trade amounted to 1.809.608 €  (exports 210.044 €, imports  1.599.564 €).
