Visa regime

Nationals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are required to obtain a visa to enter Montenegro.

Visas may be obtained from diplomatic and consular posts of Montenegro. If you are unable to reach a diplomatic or consular post of Montenegro, you may apply for a visa at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Note: Nationals of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia may enter, pass through the territory and stay in Montenegro up to 30 days, with a valid passport, without a visa, from May 5, 2023 until October 31, 2023.

Diplomatic Relations

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, we have been developing diplomatic relations between Montenegro and Saudi Arabia in the spirit of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Saudi Arabia recognized Montenegro on September 16, 2011, when diplomatic relations were established.

The non-resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based in Tirana, Abdelmomen Muhamed Sharaf, assumed the duty by presenting the credentials to the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, on November 19, 2018.

On January 8, 2020, the non-resident Ambassador of Montenegro to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stationed in Abu Dhabi, Dušanka Jeknić, presented credentials to the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques, H.H. Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia. By presenting credentials, Jeknić became the first Ambassador of Montenegro to Saudi Arabia.

Political Contacts

The former President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović visited Saudi Arabia on March 9, 2010, which was the first visit of a Montenegrin official to this country, when the President attended the ceremony of awarding international prizes of the Royal Faisal Foundation, as well as a ceremony within the Painting Initiative  and Patronage.

On the sidelines of the Third Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations in Brazil, from May 27 to 29, 2010, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro, Milan Roćen, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Saud Al Faisal.

Osman Nurkovic, the former Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, paid a visit to Saudi Arabia on April 2, 2019, At the invitation of Saudi Minister of Transport Nabeel Al Amoudi, where he participated in the "Global Aviation Summit 2019".

From 27 to 29 May 2010, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met with the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Saud Al Faisal, on the sidelines of the Third Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations in Brazil.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

Total commodity exchange in the period January - September 2020, amounted to 14.68 thousand. €, of which exports are € 7.17 thousand and imports € 7.51 thousand. €. Total commodity exchange in 2019 amounted to 76.98 thousand. €, of which exports are 17.42 thousand €, and imports 59.56 thousand. €. Total commodity exchange in 2018 amounted to € 428,912, of which imports amounted to € 7,881 (essential oils, perfumes, cosmetics and toiletries, various food products), and exports to € 421,031 (weapons and ammunition, fruit).

Foreign direct investments in the period January - September 2020 amounted to 872.24 thousand. €. In 2019, foreign direct investments amounted to 884.92 thousand. €
