Prime Minister Dritan Abazović hosted Deputy Secretary General and Political Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Enrique Mora.

Prime Minister Abazović expressed satisfaction with the fact that Montenegro is hosting the meeting of political directors of the EU and the Western Balkan countries. The Prime Minister assessed that regardless of internal political developments, Montenegro remains unequivocally committed to EU membership as its main foreign policy goal. Speaking about geopolitical events, Abazović underlined that our position is clear, condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine from the very beginning, initiating a visit of regional leaders to Kyiv and fully aligning with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy. Discussing current developments in Montenegro, Abazović assessed that it is necessary to reach a consensus on judicial appointments through political dialogue, in order for our institutions to function smoothly and independently.

Political Director Enrique Mora assessed that Montenegro is the leader in the negotiation process, but that it should make the necessary efforts to maintain this position. He pointed out that after the invasion of Ukraine, the EU pays special attention to the region and praised Montenegro's 100% alignment with the EU common foreign and security policy decisions and actions. All the countries of the Western Balkans should become part of the European family based on the achieved results and merits.
