Abazović meets with Dvorkovich: Government is open to all kind of cooperation with FIDE

Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, Minister of Sports and Youth Vasilije Lalošević, and President of Montenegro Chess Federation Jovan Milović hosted today President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich, President of the European Chess Union (ECU) Zurab Azmaiparashvili, and Managing Director of the International Chess Federation Dana Reizniece-Ozola.

Prime Minister Abazović pointed out that he was honored by their visit, stating that the Government of Montenegro is looking forward to activities aimed at promoting the values of chess as an ancient game and organising major international competitions in our country. The Government of Montenegro is open to all kind of cooperation with FIDE, said Prime Minister Abazović.

FIDE President Dvorkovich pointed out that he is visiting Montenegro for the first time and that he immediately noticed the great potential that our country has for the development of chess. We continue to support Montenegro Chess Federation, Dvorkovich emphasised.

Minister of Sports and Youth Vasilije Lalošević stressed that he has always had excellent communication with the Chess Federation, adding that the Government will provide support to chess.

President of Montenegro Chess Federation Jovan Milović said that the visit of FIDE and ECU representatives is a great honor and recognition for efforts of Montenegro Chess Federation. He added that the support of the Prime Minister and the Government of Montenegro, as well as the Ministry of Sports and Youth, is an additional motive for them to continue their work, focusing on youth and children, but also the project "Chess in Schools". Milović emphasised that Montenegro will host two European championships next year.

Representatives of Montenegro Chess Federation Veselin Drašković and Mitar Đukanović were also present at the meeting.
