The Government is proud of the Red Cross of Montenegro, which has a deep tradition and importance in the history of our country and as a Red Cross society, founded in 1875, it paved the way for solidarity in the Balkans, said Prime Minister Dritan Abazović on the occasion of 8 May - World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.

Prime Minister Abazović emphasises that Montenegro has been cherishing the idea of empathy and solidarity for 147 years through the organisation of the Red Cross, which transcends all national, religious, natural and artificial differences and borders between people.

Your selfless commitment reaches all parts of Montenegro, often experiencing numerous hardships trying to reach the most remote parts of our country, guided by the idea of helping a person in need. Through centuries-long work and commitment, the Red Cross of Montenegro has become a proven support for the state in crisis situations, for which the state owes them special gratitude, said Prime Minister Abazović.

The Prime Minister concluded that the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day reminds humanity of the work and sacrifice of this humanitarian organisation, but also obliges us to follow that example and affirm the spirit of true social responsibility, solidarity, empathy and humanity on which great deeds of human history rest.

Therefore, once again, I congratulate all volunteers, employees and the leaders of the Red Cross of Montenegro on 8 May, the Prime Minister concluded.
