Butorović: Happy 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro’s independence

Exactly 20 years ago, we wrote history. The restoration of Montenegro’s independence, as these two decades have confirmed, was one that brings people together. In our common home, everyone has found their place, regardless of how they feel or identify. At the same time, our country has found its place in the world. Internationally recognized, a member of the United Nations, NATO, the Council of Europe, and numerous other organizations, and soon to be a member of the European Union. All of this while practically building institutions, a system, and an economy from scratch.

On that path, which was not flawless, we learned important lessons – including the most important one: never to give up! Just as the water polo players did not give up in Málaga, and the handball players in London, just as an individual who firmly believes in their ideals never gives up.

While Durmitor, Hajla, and Lovćen stand proudly behind us, while the Mediterranean sun warms us and the Adriatic Sea washes over us, and as long as there are its sons and daughters, our independent and European Montenegro will remain eternal and proud!
