Coordination Body for harmonization and monitoring of inspections holds its fifth session

The fifth session of the Coordination Body for harmonization and monitoring of inspections was held today, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development and President of the Coordination Body Milun Zogović.

On the agenda was the Information on intensified inspections carried out during the summer tourist season, in line with the 2025 Action Plan.

Between 30 June and 1 September 2025, during the summer tourist season, intensified inspections were conducted across six coastal municipalities: Ulcinj, Bar, Budva, Tivat, Kotor, and Herceg Novi.

As envisaged in the Action Plan, more than 70 inspectors were deployed in the field, working continuously for the full 60 days of intensified supervision in these municipalities.

The inspections were carried out by the Tourism Inspection, Labour Inspection, Health-Sanitary Inspection, Market Inspection, and Food Safety Inspection, with the participation also of the Fisheries Inspection and the Inspection of the Maritime Safety Authority.

As a permanent working body of the Government, operating in accordance with the powers granted by the Law on Inspection Oversight, the Coordination Body achieved the best results in the history of intensified seasonal inspections. Over the past two months, 70 inspectors in six coastal municipalities carried out 9,652 inspections, identifying 6,252 irregularities. Of these, inspectors responded preventively in 1,053 cases, while also issuing 1,223 orders for the elimination of irregularities.

The total number of misdemeanor orders issued by the participating inspectorates in the six municipalities amounted to 8,761, with a financial effect exceeding €4.1 million. During the period of intensified inspections, a total of 29 criminal charges were filed.

These inspections contributed to improving business conditions and strengthening consumer protection. The most frequent irregularities included undeclared employment, irregular fiscal reporting, and hygiene deficiencies. For the period ahead, it is recommended that coordinated activities of inspection bodies continue, alongside enhanced education of business operators and the strengthening of preventive mechanisms.

It is important to emphasize that only through joint and responsible action can a high quality of services, a safe environment, and Montenegro’s reputation as a secure tourist destination be guaranteed. This was precisely the core objective of the intensified inspections during the summer tourist season of 2025, implemented in line with the Action Plan adopted by the Government of Montenegro.
