Coordination of inspection oversight for summer tourist season in Kolašin

President of the Coordination Body for the Alignment and Monitoring of Inspection Oversight and Minister in the Government of Montenegro Milutin Butorović met with working meeting was held with President of the Municipality of Kolašin Petko Bakić to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2026 summer tourist season.

As stated by the Minister’s Office, the meeting reviewed the priorities in the implementation of the Action Plan, with a particular focus on improving coordination between state administration bodies and local government, as well as strengthening the operational capacities of inspection services.

It was determined that during the peak tourist season, in the period from 1 July to 9 September, inspection authorities will operate in a five-shift regime in order to ensure continuous and efficient oversight. Teams stationed in Kolašin will cover municipalities in the northern region, namely: Mojkovac, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Rožaje, Plav, and Gusinje. In addition to the stationary teams, mobile units will also be engaged to enable timely responses in the field.

Special emphasis was placed on the implementation of measures aimed at combating the grey economy, in accordance with applicable regulations, including the control of unregistered accommodation services, the employment of undeclared workers, as well as illegal business activities in hospitality establishments (ethno villages, auto camps). Increased supervision is also planned in the area of services provided within sports, recreational, and adventure activities, including jeep safaris, quad biking, horse riding, as well as the monitoring of tourist guides operating without the required licenses.

The highlighted the need for enhanced inspection oversight of individuals who irresponsibly dispose of waste along the Jezerine–Lubnice main road, as well as of entities engaged in renting accommodation facilities, with a particular focus on the provision of food preparation and serving services in private accommodation. Special attention will also be attached to monitoring active construction sites, with a clear commitment that inspection authorities will act in a non-selective, professional and transparent manner.

President of the Municipality of Kolašin Petko Bakić informed members of the Coordination Body about the key challenges faced by the municipality during the tourist season, particularly regarding illegal business activities and increased pressure on local infrastructure. It was assessed that continuous and coordinated cooperation between local and state authorities is of crucial importance for improving the quality of the tourist offer.

The Coordination Body and the Municipality of Kolašin will continue their joint activities with the aim of effectively implementing the Action Plan and successfully preparing for and carrying out the 2026 summer tourist season.
