The Coordination Team for Protection and Rescue held its second session on 28 March 2022, chaired by Minister of Defence Olivera Injac.

In order to act urgently, the Coordination Team, in anticipation of the upcoming fire season, discussed the updated information submitted by the Ministry of the Interior, namely: Information on the need to boost the Aviation-Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of the Interior and Information on the need to purchase a medium, multi-purpose helicopter.

Bearing in mind the need for urgent action and prevention of major consequences of wildfires on human health and property, the Coordination Team proposed to the Government to provide additional funds for the Aviation-Helicopter Unit in the amount of 750,000.00 euros. One part of the funds should be provided for aircraft insurance, and the other part of the funds for the repair of aircraft and helicopters.

Adviser to the Prime Minister Vojo Laković used the opportunity to draw attention to the need for a systematic solution to the problems facing the protection and rescue system, and that it also requires an analytical and strategic approach. He recommended that everyone within their competence should make a full contribution to creating a sustainable and reliable protection and rescue system.
