DPM Ivanović meets with Slovenia’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Anžej Frangeš

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović received Anžej Frangeš, the Special Envoy of the Republic of Slovenia for the Western Balkans, on the occasion of his farewell visit.
The meeting focused on the current political landscape in Montenegro and the Government’s achievements in advancing key reforms necessary for EU membership. Special attention was given to the pace and prospects of Montenegro’s EU accession process, particularly in view of the country’s ambition to join the Union by 2028.
Discussions also covered regional matters, including stability in the Western Balkans, cooperation among countries in the region, and their collective relationship with the European Union. Montenegro’s role as a frontrunner in the EU integration process in the Western Balkans was particularly highlighted.
The two officials exchanged views on global challenges that directly or indirectly affect the security and stability of the region, as well as the broader dynamics of EU enlargement. The recent Western Balkans leaders’ summit in Skopje was also referenced in this context.
Mr. Frangeš expressed appreciation for the successful cooperation to date and underscored the importance of further strengthening the strong partnership between Slovenia and Montenegro.
Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović thanked Mr. Frangeš for his dedicated engagement and valuable contribution to deepening bilateral relations, as well as for Slovenia’s consistent support for Montenegro’s European aspirations.
