Eighteenth Summer School for Young Diplomats "Gavro Vuković" gathers participants from 53 countries

The 18th edition of the International Summer School for Young Diplomats "Gavro Vuković", sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), was opened in Berane, earlier today.
This year's school gathered young diplomats from 53 countries, which represents the largest number of participating countries so far.
Welcoming the participants, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović pointed out that this initiative, which started as regional connection of young diplomats, has grown into a globally recognised platform.
To date, more than 1,000 international relations professionals from almost 100 countries have had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and expand diplomatic contacts through this school, he said, emphasising the importance of face-to-face meetings at a time when communication is increasingly moving into digital space.
This is the essence of diplomacy – to understand, explore, convey information, and make decisions in the interest of those we represent. You will seek solutions where others see obstacles. You are the ones who will build bridges of cooperation and make decisions that connect people and ideas, said Ibrahimović.
UNDP Resident Representative Ekaterina Paniklova emphasised the Summer School is an example of diplomacy as it should always be – a meeting of minds, a bridge between cultures, and a space where trust is built.
She said that it is precisely young diplomats who play a key role in shaping today's world through their commitment to cooperation, equality, and building a more inclusive and resilient future.
This year's Summer School lasts until 27 June, and in the coming days it continues in Kolašin, Podgorica, Cetinje and Kotor, where participants will have the opportunity to connect, get to know Montenegro, and discuss contemporary global challenges through dialogue and the exchange of experiences.
