On the second day of his visit to Denmark, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met with Chair of the European Committee Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Brigitte Klintskov Jerkel.

The meeting focused on the dynamics of European integration in the context of the upcoming Danish presidency of the EU Council in the second half of the year. Minister Ibrahimović emphasised our country's determination to meet all the criteria in the coming months, which would create conditions for Montenegro to be ready for membership by 2028.

Montenegro's accession to the EU is not only good news for our country, but also for the entire region, as it would send a message that the enlargement policy is alive and more important than ever, he said, noting that the European perspective of the Western Balkans is a strategic goal, but also a logical outcome of a common vision for a more stable and resilient Europe.

We appreciate Denmark's continuous support for the EU enlargement policy and believe that the upcoming presidency will provide an additional opportunity for an even stronger momentum in the negotiation process, DPM Ibrahimović stressed.

Chair of the European Committee Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Brigitte Klintskov Jerkel pointed out the importance of preserving and strengthening regional stability and common European security. Speaking about the topics that will be the focus of Denmark's presidency of the EU Council, she emphasised that the enlargement policy will also be on the agenda.

Denmark strongly supports your ambitions on the path to the EU and we will continue to advocate for enlargement based on merits and results, Ms Jerkel stated.
