Government appoints three members and secretary of Integrity Commission

At its 135th session, the Government appointed three members and the Secretary of the Integrity Commission.

The appointment of the Integrity Commission represents an important step towards strengthening integrity and accountability in the work of the highest bodies of executive power, as well as improving the corruption prevention system. It implements the recommendations of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) concerning the establishment of an effective mechanism for providing confidential advice to senior executive officials on matters related to integrity, conflicts of interest, gifts, and other issues relevant to legal and ethical integrity.

In addition to its advisory role, the Commission will play an important part in organising and delivering training on integrity and ethical standards, thereby contributing to a stronger culture of integrity and the more consistent application of the principles of good governance.

Through this initiative, Montenegro further aligns its institutional framework with international standards and fulfils its obligations under the European Union accession process.
