Ibrahimović in Luxembourg: We are determined to fulfill all conditions for EU membership by 2028, strong support from member states

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović, participated, at the invitation of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, in an informal meeting of the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council with the foreign ministers of the Western Balkan states, held in Luxembourg.

Minister Ibrahimović emphasized Montenegro's strong commitment, as the most advanced candidate country in the accession process, to fulfill all the conditions for the completion of negotiations and EU membership by 2028.

"Montenegro is a reliable EU partner, with 100% alignment with the Union's Common Foreign and Security Policy and full commitment to European values. In this spirit, we continue to act as a constructive partner on the regional and global stage," the Minister stated.

During the meeting, discussions also addressed the importance of increasing defense spending and the efforts the EU is making to further guarantee its security. In this regard, Minister Ibrahimović pointed out Montenegro's dedication to further increasing defense allocations and cooperating with partners to further strengthen the stability and security of the region.

The meeting in Luxembourg provided an opportunity to reiterate the strong commitment to the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries, based on individual results and merits, and with the aim of common, long-term prosperity and stability. Along these lines, "continuous dialogue, clear support, and EU visibility in the Western Balkans are of key importance," Ibrahimović conveyed.

The Foreign Affairs Council, composed of the foreign ministers of all EU member states, meets regularly to discuss the most pressing global issues, with today's meeting focusing on the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, as well as further enhancing cooperation between the EU and the Western Balkan countries in the context of European integration.
