Implementation of the first phase of credit support to the economy begins

Published on: Apr 8, 2021 7:30 AM Author: Ministry of Economic Development

Taking into account the persistent problems in the economy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, primarily illiquidity and the need for additional financial resources, the Government of Montenegro is working intensively on preparing a new package of measures that will continue to support the economy, which is expected to be adopted in late April.

Part of the new package of measures is a set of credit lines prepared by the Investment and Development Fund of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare in order to provide additional financial support for liquidity. This support is intended primarily for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises whose liquidity is threatened due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The total value of the credit support, including the IPARD programme, will amount to EUR 20 million, and its implementation will begin next week.
