International cooperation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a network of diplomatic and consular missions in daily communication and cooperation with partners, allies and international organizations, is working on the priorities of Montenegro's foreign policy.

As a member of NATO, the largest international military-political organization in the world, Montenegro shares the common values of democratic and civil societies based on the rule of law, while at the same time it is committed to reforms and activities in order to achieve the most important foreign policy priority - membership in the European Union.

One of the pillars of foreign policy and international cooperation is the active and recognizable role of Montenegro in the region with a focus on improving good relations with neighbor countries in order to step towards the European future.

Montenegro participates in more than 30 regional initiatives, from the expert to the highest political level, which aim to strengthen cooperation and establish contacts in various areas of national, regional and international importance.

Such a regional position will make Montenegro's activities more visible on the world map - in the United Nations and all other international organizations, because multilateralism is today a precondition for survival and security of all countries, both small and large, having in mind numerous global challenges.

Regardless of the complexity of international relations, every narrative and goal must have one meaning - the state of Montenegro and our citizens, which means security, safety, peace, democratic development, dignity, freedom and a richer life. On the way to achieving that goal, Montenegrin diplomacy is in the service of its citizens.
