Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić and Minister of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media Tamara Srzentić continued today the Continuous Dialogue with the Media.

Today's meeting was attended by representatives of the print media, Director of the Independent Daily Vijesti Marijana Bojanić, Editor-in-Chief of the daily Dan Mitar Rakčević, Director of the daily Pobjeda Draško Đuranović and Executive Director of the weekly magazine Monitor Milena Perović.

Prime Minister Krivokapić said that he was aware of the challenges faced by the print media, and that it was difficult to survive in a small market such as Montenegro. Krivokapić pointed out that reforms in the media sector in Montenegro are crucial in order to provide objective, professional and credible reporting to the public, but also sustainable media work in a more regulated market, which will fully provide us with the necessary media pluralism. Krivokapić once again expressed full support for the efforts of the Ministry of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media to meet with all media in Montenegro and the desire to be acquainted with all proposals and suggestions made by media representatives at the meetings.

The goal of this meeting is, on the one hand, to get acquainted with each other, and on the other hand, to see what are the key problems that the print media are facing. To specify them and try to find solutions together, Krivokapić emphasised.

Minister Srzentić said that their goal was not to put out the fire, but to solve the systemic challenges of the entire media sector.

As you know, I come from a culture in which the media, freedom of speech, is one of the most important components of modern democracy. I see no reason not to do everything to get Montenegro closer to these standards, or at least to try to regulate this in the way it is regulated in most countries. You will have an honest and open partner in us, who is ready to discuss all topics in such and similar formats. We are not just talking, but solving problems, said Srzentić.

Representatives of the print media pointed to the problems they face, the high costs that distribution of the newspaper requires as well as the existing monopoly on the market.

The goal of the Continuous Dialogue with the Media is to obtain information on the biggest challenges faced by all representatives of the media community, in order to achieve sustainable solutions in this area.

Meetings with the media will be organised in the coming period as well. Last week, Prime Minister Krivokapić and Minister Srzentić spoke with representatives of RTCG, TV Vijesti, TV Nova M and Prva TV.
