Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, during his visit to the United Kingdom, met with Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle.

Prime Minister Krivokapić said that Montenegro wants to work on strengthening the political dialogue with Great Britain, emphasising that the confirmation of traditionally friendly relations is the fact that the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was marked in 2018. The Prime Minister emphasised that parliamentary cooperation is extremely important for Montenegro, and that we should work on its further strengthening, through parliamentary bodies and friendship groups.

Montenegro is imbued with a specific, reformist, transitional and truly pro-European spirit! We want to learn from the most experienced and work with the best ones. We have an enviable history of assemblies and parliamentarism, but we certainly have something to learn from one of the oldest and most prestigious Houses that nurtures a polemical and critical spirit, but also a spirit of responsibility, a spirit of tolerance and togetherness that aims for the common good of the United Kingdom, Krivokapić said.

The Prime Minister also emphasised that the Government supports the work of the British Council.

Hoyle said that the United Kingdom wants to strengthen the friendship between the two countries, and to improve parliamentary and economic cooperation. He pointed out that the United Kingdom supports the reform path of Montenegro and that they are ready to provide all the necessary expert assistance.
