Minister Radulović participated at the Foreign Ministers’ of the NATO member states meeting

Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović participated at the meeting of Foreign Ministers’ of the NATO member states, held today via video link, aimed at final preparation for meeting of head of states and governments of the Alliance, that is scheduled for June 14th in Brussel.

In the focus of the meeting was harmonizing of the document “NATO 2030 – Transatlantic Agenda for the Future”, that will be adopted on the forthcoming summit. This document defines recommendations for further work of the Alliance, that will enable NATO to improve its capacities in order to be ready to answer on current and future security challenges.

Ministers supported recommendations of the NATO 2030, while emphasizing that, in the context of larger challenges the world is facing, proposed measures will make NATO more politically efficient, military stronger and globally more engaged.

Minister Radulović conveyed strong support of Montenegro to this process. He emphasized the importance of strengthening of political unity of the Alliance, as well as improvement of collective defense, and Montenegro, as responsible member, is ready to contribute in accordance with its possibilities. In the light of current challenges, Radulović also welcomed additional adjustment of the NATO that will make it more efficient in facing with broad spectrum of security issues, including also climate changes. He stressed that improving of cooperation with NATO and strategic partners, in the first line with the EU, is very important for Montenegro, particularly in the regard of the Western Balkans, as well as in regard to resistance on hybrid threats.

In the context of recent decision about recalling troops and finalizing military presence in Afghanistan, ministers had, also, talked about new phase in the relations with this country. The aforementioned will include continuation of civil presence and providing collective support in order to end violence and protect achieved results. The support for peaceful settlement and continuation of peaceful negotiations between Government of Afghanistan and the Taliban was reiterated, as the only way towards long term and sustainable in the country.
