Montenegro to host global music spectacle: Ricky Martin to perform in Podgorica marking 20 years since the restoration of independence

The Coordination Body for the organisation of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro’s independence proudly announces the central event of the three-day jubilee programme marking two decades since the restoration of independence.

As part of the celebrations, Independence Square in Podgorica will, on 21 May, host one of the most significant musical events in the modern history of the region, featuring a concert by global music icon Ricky Martin.

This exceptional artistic event is conceived as a gift from the state to its citizens; therefore, the concert will be free and open to the public, welcoming all citizens of Montenegro as well as visitors from the region and around the world. The arrival of an artist whose name symbolises top-tier production and a universal musical language confirms the Government of Montenegro’s intention to celebrate this historic jubilee in a truly grand manner.

Ricky Martin, an artist who redefined the global pop scene, is a multi-Grammy Award winner and recipient of the prestigious MTV Latin Icon Award (2025), and ranks among the best-selling performers of all time, with over 70 million albums sold worldwide. With his concert in Podgorica, this global star will deliver an exclusive musical experience, reaffirming his status as an artist who, over a career spanning more than four decades, has broken language barriers and become a pioneer of a global musical revolution.

Beyond his artistic achievements, Martin is also recognised as a leading global philanthropist and goodwill ambassador, whose foundation has for decades championed the protection of human rights.
