Monteput and IRD Engineering sign contract for supervision of works on the second section of the highway
Monteput and the Italian company IRD Engineering signed today a contract for the provision of consulting services for the supervision of design and construction works on the second section of the Bar–Boljare highway, Mateševo–Andrijevica.
The value of the contract amounts to EUR 14,448,630 (excluding VAT), while the planned duration of services is 90 months, including the period for the remediation of any potential defects. The supervision contract represents an important step in the continued implementation of one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Montenegro, ensuring strong professional support throughout all phases of design and construction.
With the aim of selecting the highest-quality supervision services, Monteput launched a tender in August 2024, conducted in accordance with the rules and procedures of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which attracted interest from 14 companies and consortia. Following the evaluation process, six bidders advanced to the second phase of the tender, published in June 2025, after which IRD Engineering was selected as the most favourable bidder.
It is recalled that the offer of the Chinese consortium “PowerChina – Stecol – PCCD” was previously selected as the most favourable in the tender for the design and construction of the second section of the highway, carried out in line with EBRD procedures. The signing of the design-and-build contract for the second section is expected later this month.
The Mateševo–Andrijevica section, with a total length of 23 kilometres, is of key importance for the continuation of the construction of the Bar–Boljare highway and for improving connectivity between northern Montenegro and the central part of the country.
