Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić congratulated the citizens of Montenegro on the International Day of Democracy.

A little more than a year ago, for the first time in Montenegro's history, using your civil rights and showing responsibility to future generations, you changed the government through ballots, respecting the Constitution and the laws of our state. Today is the International Day of Democracy, and for us in Montenegro, we can say, the true Day of Democracy is 30 August. The day when we all, no matter who we voted for personally, joined the family of modern democracies. However, our task is to stay in that Family. To survive as a society of equal opportunities and social equality in which competition, spirit of fair competition and changeability will be the guarantors of our freedom and justice, which are both guarantors and factors of democracy.

Also, today we think of those countries whose citizens have not yet fully achieved freedom and the right to speech, expression, information, voting, diversity, and we want to send them strong support to persevere on the path of true, civil liberation.

May we all celebrate the International Day of Democracy, while remembering the courage and importance of every citizen and the responsibility every citizen has towards wider social community and the future he creates with his individual actions, the Prime Minister's congratulatory message reads.
