PM Krivokapić meets with UK Secretary of State for Defence Wallace and Baroness Goldie: Excellent defence cooperation between Montenegro and the UK

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, during his first visit to the United Kingdom, met with UK Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace and the Minister of State at the Ministry of Defence, Baroness Annabel MacNicoll Goldie.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the recent visit of the HMS Richmond to Montenegro, which, as he pointed out, is a confirmation of further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries and the United Kingdom's commitment to Montenegro as a NATO ally and longtime friend.

The Prime Minister said that the two countries have excellent cooperation in the field of defence, thanking for the overall support of the United Kingdom in terms of reform and strengthening of the Montenegrin defence system, including the implementation of activities that contributed to the modernisation of the Montenegrin Armed Forces.

PM Krivokapić also welcomed the British support in training Montenegrin officers, strengthening the cyber defence system, as well as destroying surplus weapons, and pointed to the intensive cooperation between the two countries' navies, as evidenced by numerous visits of British Royal Navy ships to Montenegrin ports.

Secretary of State for Defence Wallace said that he admires the courage and strength of Montenegro, which manages to resist external influences. He said that the United Kingdom will provide all expert assistance to Montenegro in order to be resistant to cybercrime and hybrid threats, which have become more frequent lately.

Baroness Goldie stressed that she was happy with the cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence, saying that the United Kingdom would help Montenegro to improve its navy.
