PM Krivokapić - PMQs: No official has ever resigned because he or she is of another nationality

Published on: Mar 25, 2021 4:45 PM Author: Office of the Prime Minister

"I have never asked any minister what nationality he or she is. I accept Article 1 of the Constitution, which says that Montenegro is a civil state, regardless of the fact that the Constitution clearly provides for the rights of minorities. And now, this hand of yours that you extend, I will always accept. I will not look, whether you are still embraced by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) or not. The fact that you cannot separate from them or you can, is a matter of your political perception," said Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić during the Prime Minister's Questions, answering the question from Ervin Ibrahimović from the MP Club of the Bosniak Party.

Prime Minister Krivokapić said that no official has ever resigned because he or she is of another nationality.

"The officials resigned, as Mr. Klica resigned today, because they did their job unprofessionally and very selectively. We should all mark the problem and solve it regardless of someone's eye color and name, because I don't know them by name. It is very common in Montenegro, to judge by name, who belongs to whom. You, who certainly represent the largest part of your people, have the right to protect them, but if you want to talk about statistics, then you should have analyzed those statistics separately, in the period when you had exceptional cooperation with the DPS. Then, particularly interested in transport department, you got a certain number of positions. No one will remove them from their job, but you can't object, that in two identical CVs, we have an affirmative action. I appreciate the affirmative action even if you pointed out that we want to be a civil society, who has defined the constituent people in Montenegro, who are the minorities, where is it written and what is our relationship. Someone did not want to set the record straight," said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said that he was ready to cooperate.

"I don't need a vote, I need value, expertise, professionalism. That is the criterion of this Government. You forgot that the previous Government's attitude was such that there was no certain group, which is the second largest in Montenegro according to the census. I don't want to name anyone. Also, shouldn't we all be concerned about our relationship with Roma. There are those who used everything for that one vote. I am not the one," concluded Krivokapić.
