PM Krivokapić wishes Montenegrin athletes luck ahead of Tokyo Olympics

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić and Minister of Economic Development Jakov Milatović, ahead of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, visited today the headquarters of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee in Podgorica. On that occasion, they met with MOC President Dušan Simonović, head coach of Montenero women's national handball team Bojana Popopić and head coach of Montenegro men's national water polo team Vladimir Gojković.

PM Krivokapić said that he is extremely honored to have the opportunity to wish luck to national, sports heroes. He emphasised the great importance that physical culture, sports, athletes and their successes have for the entire social community.

It is impressive that we, being a small country, have great, world-class results and exceptional competitors in several sports and disciplines. Of course, your water polo and handball teams stand out in particular. You have achieved the dream of every athlete, and we all now expect that we will celebrate again after 8 August. Having already proven your diligence and courage, I hope you shall not lack luck or success. We wish you good luck and I hope that you will make Montenegro happy again, said Prime Minister Krivokapić.

President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee Dušan Simonović expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the visit and the attention he paid to the Olympic athletes.

MOC President Simonović also informed the Prime Minister about the future challenges facing the MOC and Montenegrin sports, and he especially pointed out the excellent cooperation that the MOC has with the Directorate of Sports and Youth.

Montenegrin athletes, 33 of them, will travel tonight to Tokyo, where they are expected to perform at the Olympic Games from 23 July to 8 August. In addition to the women's national handball team and men's national water polo team, the colors of Montenegro will be defended at this year's Olympics by athletes in individual sports: athletics, swimming, judo, archery and sailing.
