Investing in human capital, adapting to new working conditions and connecting with modern technologies are the foundations of long-term economic progress and social development, said Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.

Prime Minister Spajić is participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos, where, on the margins of the event, he met with Christophe Catoir, President of Adecco Group (ADECCO), one of the world’s largest companies in employment and workforce management.

As highlighted at the meeting, General Assembly, a company within the Adecco Group, has successfully completed a pilot programme in Montenegro, through which around 40 unemployed persons acquired digital skills following a three-month training programme.

It was emphasized that, in the context of rapid technological change, digitalisation and the transformation of labour markets, it is crucial for public policies to be directed towards skills development, reskilling and the creation of conditions for quality living and work.

Investing in people is essential in a world of rapidly changing industries and labour markets. Only a strong, adaptable and well-connected workforce can respond to the needs of a modern economy, Prime Minister Spajić stated.

Catoir commended Montenegro’s efforts to improve the knowledge and skills of its domestic workforce through the development of various programmes, particularly during the demanding final phase of the EU accession negotiations.

The discussion also covered modern labour market trends, the role of technology in connecting people with jobs, as well as concrete models through which countries can address the shortage of qualified labour.

Special focus was placed on how Montenegro can leverage international experience, improve its education and training systems, and, through partnerships with the private sector, establish a sustainable framework for workforce development.

The exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices with global leaders represents an important step towards strengthening Montenegro’s competitiveness and building a labour market that is resilient, inclusive and prepared for future challenges.
