Minister without Portfolio Adrijan Vuksanović met today with Ambassador of Turkey to Montenegro Songül Ozan. The officials assessed that the two countries have traditionally good and friendly relations and expressed openness and readiness to further strengthen and intensify relations.

This Government has a high degree of diversity, both ideological and political, but I believe that we are gathered around one common value, which is the well-being of our citizens. The priority of this Government is to reinvigorate the EU accession process. It is a process that is important for Montenegro, aimed at providing better living conditions to our citizens. We are ready and we want to join the EU, said Minister Vuksanović.

Ambassador Ozan said that the two countries share a common history, culture and tradition. Montenegro is our trusted friend and our ally within NATO. Today in Turkey we have about 20 million citizens who are in some way connected to the Balkans, and it is very important for us to know that peace and stability prevail in the Balkans. Turkey also has its own institutions operating in Montenegro and I want you to know that we are ready to improve our relations and to cooperate with your Government and you personally, she added.

Ambassador Ozan wished Montenegro success in pursuing its European path.
