Deputy Prime Minister for Regional Development and Minister of Capital Investments Ervin Ibrahimović met today with Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Montenegro Songül Ozan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated Minister Ibrahimović on his appointment. The meeting expressed expectations that traditionally good cooperation will be intensified in the coming period.

There are many reasons for mutual satisfaction with cooperation between the two countries so far, but I also feel an additional obligation to improve such good relations and find models for improving bilateral relations. Turkey was among the first friendly countries to provide medical equipment to Montenegro at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We also have great cooperation with TIKA and I really think there is room to further develop projects in various areas, said Ibrahimović.

Today's meeting was an opportunity to discuss potential capital projects, since Turkish companies have so far expressed their interest in participating in the implementation of various projects, with special reference to the construction of motorway, but also the improvement and modernisation of Montenegrin airports.

Since the development of the northern region is one of the priorities of this government, DPM Ibrahimović said that the opening of the first section of the motorway from Podgorica to Kolašin will send a clear message to our citizens in the northern region that we are creating preconditions for economic development and better quality of life.

The officials agreed to intensify cooperation between the institutions of the two countries.
