WARNING – Fake Cryptocurrency Investment Ads

Published on: Sep 8, 2025 10:01 AM

We alert the public about ongoing fraudulent cryptocurrency investment ads that promise quick and easy profits. Scammers employ various marketing tactics, including fake ads on social media and messaging apps (such as Viber, WhatsApp, and Telegram), as well as direct messages to individuals, offering unrealistic financial gains.

These online scams can be highly convincing, often using fake platforms and applications designed to mimic legitimate DeFi (decentralized finance) platforms. Scammers fabricate user testimonials and trading interfaces to deceive even cautious investors.

Scammers conduct aggressive social engineering, crafting seemingly “exclusive” groups on platforms like Viber, WhatsApp, or Telegram. After gaining victims’ trust, they may first send small amounts of cryptocurrency - only to later trick victims into linking crypto wallets to fraudulent platforms. This gives scammers direct access, enabling them to steal funds without the owner’s awareness or consent.

We urge citizens to stay vigilant, avoid offers that promise quick and effortless profits, and verify the credibility of any platforms or individuals before making any investment.

If you suspect that you are being targeted or have already fallen victim to such a scam, please report the case to the Police or CIRT via email at kontakt@cirt.me or by filling out the form available at: https://www.gov.me/cirt/prijavi-incident
