Bilateral relations

Montenegro is strongly dedicated to permanent development of bilateral relations with other countries in accordance with defined foreign policy priorities.

From independence in 2006, Montenegro has been recognized by 182 countries, with which we established diplomatic relations as well.

Our aim is further improvement of relations with countries of the Region, based on mutual respect and continued development of political, economic, security, cultural and science contacts and cooperation. Improving of bilateral relations with EU countries is crucial for additional foreign policy affirmation of Montenegro and achieving of strategic priorities. In that regard, bilateral relations of Montenegro with EU countries are characterized by constant trend of improvement, dialogue on high level, intensive cooperation in many fields, including cooperation in context of further promotion of Montenegrin integration towards EU, and active collaboration within NATO.

Further implementation of clear foreign policy in bilateral relations with countries of North and South America, aimed at boosting development of cooperation and strengthening of partnership is also in our focus. With primary emphasis on European integration, Montenegro remains strongly oriented towards enhancing of bilateral relations and overall cooperation dynamization with countries of Euro-Asia, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Pacific and Oceania as well.
