European Commission’s Report recognizes outstanding results achieved by Ministry of Economic Development

This year’s European Commission Annual Report on Montenegro’s Progress fills us with pride and encouragement, as it confirms the outstanding results achieved in the areas under the competence of the Ministry of Economic Development.
The European Commission highly assessed Montenegro’s progress in Chapter 3 (Right of Establishment and Freedom to Provide Services) and Chapter 6 (Company Law), which represents a direct result of the successful and dedicated work of the Ministry of Economic Development.
The Commission also positively assessed progress in Chapter 7 (Intellectual Property Law), which was provisionally closed last year. This demonstrates that our efforts to align with EU standards continue even after closing negotiation chapters, further confirming Montenegro’s determination to become a full member of the European family.
We expect that by the end of the year, among other achievements, we will close Chapters 3 and 6, meaning that the Ministry of Economic Development, in less than two years, will have played a direct and key role in closing a record five negotiation chapters. This is the best proof that clear goals and dedicated work open the doors to the European Union.
During 2026, the Ministry’s focus will be directed towards Chapters 1 (Free Movement of Goods), 8 (Competition Policy), and 28 (Consumer and Health Protection). Work on these chapters continues steadily, with visible progress in alignment with the EU acquis in Chapters 1 and 28, and further strengthening of the legislative framework under Chapter 8.
