Gjeloshaj: I fully support the U.S. position on the serious security risks posed by equipment from Chinese manufacturers in key communication systems

As the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development, I fully support the position of the United States regarding the serious security risks posed by equipment from Chinese manufacturers in key communication systems. As a NATO ally, Montenegro must adhere to the highest Euro-Atlantic security standards.

Through the legislative amendments I initiated, we have ensured that the Government has a clear legal basis to restrict or prohibit the use of equipment that threatens national security.

In this spirit, I will propose that the Government require the company One to remove Huawei and ZTE equipment from use, and that the new state Data Center must not be equipped with technology from these manufacturers or other high-risk suppliers.

Montenegro must build secure, modern, and reliable digital systems in full cooperation with its key partners – the United States and NATO.
