Ibrahimović: Establishment of working party for Accession Treaty clearly confirms Montenegro is in final stage of EU membership process

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović stated that the decision to establish an ad hoc working party for the drafting of the Accession Treaty represents a strong and unequivocal confirmation that Montenegro has entered the final, most demanding phase of the EU accession process.
As he pointed out, this is one of the key milestones in the course of negotiations so far, which not only confirms the progress achieved but also clearly signals a high level of confidence in Montenegro’s institutional and reform maturity.
The work ahead will not be merely technical in nature, but a substantive process that requires a responsible and thoughtful approach, Ibrahimović said.
According to him, the work of the party will be based on the results achieved so far, but also on a realistic assessment of the contemporary challenges faced by both Montenegro and the European Union.
I see this process as a shared task, in which interests and responsibilities are intertwined, with a clear understanding that the quality and sustainability of solutions must remain at the forefront. Montenegro is approaching this work with full awareness of its importance, not only for its own European path, but also for the broader context of enlargement policy, Ibrahimović stated.
He added that Montenegro is ready, through this work, to contribute to shaping a model that will be applicable and beneficial to others as well, while actively sharing its experience and best practices.
I believe that such an approach will have a long-term positive effect, both on the dynamics of enlargement and on the overall stability and cohesion of the region and the European Union, Ibrahimović concluded.
