Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Capital Investments Ervin Ibrahimović met today with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium Koenraad Adam. Ibrahimović pointed out that diplomatic and bilateral relations between the two countries are good, but that there is potential for improvement.

It is necessary to emphasise that membership in the European Union remains a priority strategic commitment of Montenegro and one of the most important foreign policy goals. The new Government will make additional efforts to pave the way for Montenegro to become the next full-fledged EU member, said Ibrahimović.

The officials noted that Montenegro and Belgium have excellent cooperation and that good political relations are a good basis for strengthening economic cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Regional Development stressed the huge untapped potentials of the north of Montenegro, saying that one of the tasks of the new Government will be stronger investment in this region. He added that a balance between the regional development of Montenegro needs to be established.

The officials concluded that the two countries may continue to strengthen the strategic partnership, which is reflected in the growing interest of Belgian companies in investing in infrastructure and other major projects in Montenegro.
