Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović said at today’s extraordinary online Assembly of the Permanent Council of OSCE that the escalation of security situation, due to Russia’s invasion on Ukraine, is extremely worrying, and that Montenegro joins the condemnation of the military assault on Ukraine.

We reiterate that diplomacy is the only way to achieve permanent peace. Military act is not a solution to the conflict. Peaceful solution of disputes and refraining from the use of force are basic principles of international law, in accordance with UN Charter and Helsinki Final Act. With that aim, Russia must take concrete steps and adhere to its international obligation – to stop its military operation and return to the negotiation table. We call Russia to choose peace instead of war – Head of Montenegrin Diplomacy said.

Minister Radulović said that Russia’s activities put the entire architecture of European security and international order based on rules in danger.

There is only one way to solve this situation, which in my opinion does not favor any participating country, but it aims to restore stability and security throughout the OSCE region – Head of Diplomacy sad. He added that we all must show responsible behavior and commitment to arranged and accepted norms and principles of international law.

OSCE presents and inclusive and valuable platform for solving security issues of every participant country. As such, it should be fully applied in order to contribute to strengthening peace and security in Europe - Minister Radulović said. He reiterated Montenegro’s strong support to the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within her internationally recognized borders.
