Minister Radulović: Government is committed to build closer relations with diaspora, Montenegro is country of all its citizens

Government of Montenegro is dedicated to build closer relations with diaspora and in that regard, we want to create new value, intensify communication and strengthen our ties with motherland – it has been appraised during first online meeting of Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović with representatives of diaspora, that Directorate for Cooperation with Diaspora and Emigrants has organized.

Besides this, it is planned to organize meetings between Minister Radulović and other societies in the period ahead, which represents clear indicator of Government’ intention for cooperation with diaspora and establishing a practice that we have not had previously.

Head of Montenegrin diplomacy expressed readiness to provide full support to all mechanisms that will enable undisturbed dialogue and realization of concrete activities aimed at joint promotion of Montenegro.

Minister Radulović emphasized the importance of continued communication of diplomatic and consular network with societies of diaspora abroad, bearing in mind that embassies and consulates are on disposal to Montenegrin citizens and their interests. Speaking about the most important topics related to our diaspora, while Draft of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Registers of Residence and Stay provokes great interest, he stated that none of Montenegrin citizens would not be forgotten, thus that Government is devoted to creation of modes that will suit the best to Montenegrin occasions.

He stressed that care of diaspora is inseparable part of internal and foreign policy, so including of diaspora – emigrants in social, economic and political life of Montenegro is of the great significance.

In that context, he agreed with collocutors that, in the focus of cooperation with diaspora should be economic aspect, that will incent our economy, particularly bearing in mind consequences of pandemic COVID-19. During the talk it has been appraised that the European Union will be more present in Montenegro throughout concrete projects.

Representatives of diaspora stressed the importance of communication and strengthening of cooperation with relevant institutions, while emphasizing significance of starting with e-portal as kind of bridge and firming mutual ties. They exchanged views about promotion of Montenegro as safe destination, particularly having in mind soon start of tourism season.

Minister Radulović announced his presence within Days of Diaspora that will be held in July 28th and 29th in Bijelo Polje, as sign of support to the further activities of Directorate for Cooperation with Diaspora and Emigrants, aiming at promotion of all concrete results and ongoing projects with Montenegrin community abroad.

Government has a moral obligation to help diaspora in all its efforts to promote motherland, while we are united in the same goal and that is - Montenegro, country of all its citizens - Head of Montenegrin diplomacy stated.

Participants of the meeting were Advisor of Prime Minister for Minority Rights Maida Gorčević, Director of Directorate for Cooperation with Diaspora and Emigrants Seid Hadžić, Director General for Consular Affairs and Diaspora in Ministry of Foreign Affairs Branislav Karadžić, as well as representatives of diaspora: Bošnjak’s Culture Community “Hanover”, FR Germany, Mijaz Ramdedović, Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Slovenia Vojislav Kovač,  Montenegrin Academic Society “Luča” Remzo Skenderović, Association “Regina Jelena” in Italy Danijela Đurđević, Informative Center of Montenegro in Luxembourg Fetija Kalač, Association Montenegro in France Radojica Marković, Council of Montenegrin National Minority in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirza Redžić, Association of Montenegrins and friends of Montenegro on Cyprus Vladislav Popović and BD Fund, Luxembourg Enver Korać.
