Minister Radulović in Budapest: Montenegro can count on political and expert support of Hungary

Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović met today, during his visit to Budapest, with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó. Minister Radulović expressed the pleasure with productive bilateral relations, characterized by high level of institutional and political dialogue.

“This is my second visit abroad after assuming the duties, which represents strong confirmation of friendly relations of our two countries”, he stated.

Minister Radulović highlighted the significance of Hungarian support in the reference to accession of Montenegro to the NATO, then negotiations with EU. In that context, he stressed that“ Hungarian commitment to the process of integration of whole Western Balkans in European family signifies additional impulse to socio-economic reforms in the Region”.He informed Minister Szijjártó about efforts and reforms that new Government is taking in order to intensify negotiation process, thus expressed the belief that we will continue to have political and expert support of our friends from Hungary.

Minister Szijjártó appraised exertions of Montenegro on its path to the EU membership, and, in that regard, uttered that Hungary will continue to firmly sustenance European integration of our country. He reminded that Hungary contributes to the improvement of our country’s negotiation process through engagement of two experts for areas of judiciary and European integration, “that is clear confirmation of our pledging for Montenegrin membership in EU”. Head of Hungarian diplomacy also uttered that it is extremely important that EU express further interest for enlargement policy then undertake activities aiming at acceleration of this process.

In the regard to facing with challenges produced by pandemic, Minister Szijjártó showed readiness that Hungary aids Montenegro in procurement and transport of vaccines, so continuation of intensive communication regarding to this topic was agreed.

Head of diplomacies Radulović and Szijjártó signed Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Montenegro and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary on Cooperation within Program “Stipendium Hungaricum “for period 2021-2023, which will represent basis for mobility of our students, as well as incentive for further improvement of friendly ties of our people.

At the meeting was also discussed about significance of economic diplomacy, so the possibility of transferring of Hungarian experience and good practice in that regard was considered. Moreover, Minister Szijjártó expressed the pleasure with presence of credible Hungarian companies in Montenegro.

Minister Radulović, during the meeting of Minister Szijjártó with ambassadors and consuls of Hungary within year consultations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, referred to Heads of Diplomatic – Consular missions, that assessed as extraordinary opportunity for opinion exchange, as well as gesture of high appreciation and open cooperation.

Head of Montenegrin diplomacy met also with Deputy Speaker of Hungarian Parliament István Jakab, in Budapest. Collocutors stressed the importance of interparliamentary cooperation along with necessity of dynamization of contacts between two allied countries in reference to all topics of mutual interest.

At the end of official part of visit, Minister Radulović held lecture on Hungarian Institute for Foreign Policy and Trade.
