Minister Radulović in Budapest: Montenegro and Hungary are allies, we will intensify cooperation in the field of defense

Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović talked today, during his first day of visit to Budapest, with Minister of Defense Tibor Benkő. At the meeting was appraised that Montenegro and Hungary have excellent bilateral relations, strengthened with intensive political dialogue and alliance within NATO framework.

Minister Radulović expressed gratitude on continuous and strong support of Hungary from very start of reform processes, during NATO accession, as well as during current negotiations with EU. Interlocutors appraised that productive cooperation in the defense area should be intensified, to which following visit of Minister Benkő to Podgorica, at the end of March, will contribute.

Minister Benkő stated that Hungary firmly supports efforts of Montenegro on EU path. In that regard, he emphasized that Hungary will continue to promote integration of all Western Balkans’ countries in the Union, while expressing the belief that it will contribute to full stability of the Region. He informed that Hungary has undertaken activities in order to empower development of defense system, then modernization of armament. On that line, he highlighted Hungarian readiness in reference to providing the expertise, particularly in part of performance joint exercises and trainings.

“Montenegro is synonym for security in Western Balkans and we are firmly convinced that it will remain example of safety and stability”, Benkő stated.

During the visit to Budapest, Minister Radulović met with ambassadors and charges d’affairs, on non-resident basis, of Latvia, Estonia, Ireland, Colombia, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand and Georgia, who cover Montenegro from Hungary. On that occasion it was emphasized that Montenegro, as credible NATO member and EU partner, on foreign policy plan remains devoted to Euro-Athlantic and European course, as well as good neighboring cooperation.

Consequently, we strive to boost relations with all our partners and friends, with which we are sharing democratic values, so we can respond more successfully to the various challenges we are facing - Head of Montenegrin diplomacy stated.

Minister Radulović also talked with Montenegrin student community in Hungary, in premises of the Embassy of Montenegro in Budapest. They discussed about foreign policy priorities of Montenegro, as well as experiences of student during their studies at Hungarian universities.

Within visit to Hungary, Head of Montenegrin diplomacy will meet tomorrow with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Deputy Speaker of Parliament István Jakab.
