Representatives of the Cybersecurity Agency attended the “Regional Workshop on Strategies to Combat Disinformation”, held on 29 and 30 September in Podgorica, organised by the Western Balkans Cyber Capacity Centre (WB3C), in cooperation with the European Union and Council of Europe joint projects CyberSEE and CyberEAST+.

The workshop focused on strengthening the capacity of institutions and services across the Western Balkans to identify, assess and respond to disinformation and coordinated information operations.

Throughout the workshop, participants enhanced their practical skills through case studies, simulations, and hands-on exercises. These activities covered the identification of information operations, basic open-source analysis, risk assessment, mapping dissemination networks and information flows, and preserving digital evidence.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of lawful, coordinated responses that fully respect freedom of expression and other fundamental rights. Participants also explored strategies to enhance cooperation between law enforcement and other relevant agencies, especially in cases where disinformation campaigns involve cyber-enabled elements.

The regional workshop provided an opportunity for institutions from across the Western Balkans to exchange experiences and good practices, while further strengthening mechanisms for cross-border cooperation, information sharing, and timely response to information-related security threats.
