Podgorica, Montenegro (30 January 2014) -- Minister without portfolio Marija Vučinović hosted earlier today newly appointed Romanian Ambassador to Montenegro Ferdinand Nagy.

Ambassador Nagy noted that providing support for Montenegro on its European and Euro-Atlantic path and enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries will be central issues during his term of office.

He said that Montenegro, similar to Romania, can serve as an example of a multicultural and multinational community, which allows minorities to influence current policies by taking participation in the executive power, thus contributing to the preservation of its identity and specificity.

Minister Vučinović informed Ambassador Nagy about activities and initiatives of the Croatian national minority in Montenegro, particularly referring to its participation in the political arena and contribution to the current issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration process.

She also informed the Romanian Ambassador about activities that will be carried out without a campaign that aims to increase public support for NATO membership, and emphasised the necessity of presenting all the benefits of the accession for Montenegro.

Both sides expressed their willingness to boost cooperation between Montenegro and Romania in all fields, with particular emphasis on Romania’s expert assistance in the areas significant in the further course of negotiations with the European Union.
