Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted Executive Director of Mtel Montenegro Vladimir Lučić, on the occasion of the forthcoming start of the first Telemedicine project in Montenegro, which will be implemented thanks to the donation of this company.

At the initiative of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), Mtel is developing a project whose first phase involves connecting hospitals in Pljevlja, Berane and Bar with the Clinical Center of Montenegro through the latest communication tools. The project will enable sending of diagnostic findings from these centers to the KCCG as a reference health institution at the tertiary level in order that doctors in hospitals in these three cities will immediately receive expert opinions so that patients can continue their medical treatment without coming to Podgorica. In addition to its easy accessibility, the project provides external consultations with neighbouring centers such as Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Rijeka, Istanbul and others.

The value of the Mtel donation – which also includes the latest telecommunications equipment in hospitals – to the health system of Montenegro amounts to almost EUR one million.

The implementation of the first phase of project is expected within three to four months.

In the second phase, the project should enable direct communication between patients and doctors via mobile application, automatic electronic scheduling of medical examinations, as well as contact between citizens and doctors via an online platform.

Prime Minister Marković expressed the Government's full support to this project, which increases the security of the health system. Emphasiaing the humane aspect of this project, the Prime Minister thanked Mtel and Director Lučić personally, adding that the development vision which is being followed by the socially responsible business of this company should be an example in Montenegro and beyond.

The meeting was also attended by Zorica Kovačević, Director of KCCG, Ljubiša Stanković, Academician Prof. MD and Jefto Eraković, MD.
