8th Call for Regional Project Proposals and Information Session in Podgorica

The Western Balkans Fund announced the 8th call for regional project proposals in mid-March. On that occasion, the Fund’s Secretariat held an information session on April 1, 2026, in Podgorica, with the aim of informing interested stakeholders about the application process and available project funding opportunities.

The event was opened by Jovana Krivokapić, Director General for Regional Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who emphasized that the presidency of the Fund represents an important opportunity to enhance regional cooperation – one of Montenegro’s key foreign policy priorities and an essential component of the European integration process.

The event was attended by nearly 40 representatives from the non-governmental sector, academic, research, and cultural institutions, sports associations, and local governments.

The call is open to applicants from six Western Balkan countries, including Montenegro, and is funded through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Western Balkan countries and the European Union’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance.

The maximum grant amount per project is €15,000. To qualify as a regional project, applicants must establish cooperation with partners from at least two countries in the region. Eligible applicants include civil society organizations, local and regional institutions, as well as associations in the fields of education, culture, media, sports, and the business sector.

The call focuses on projects that contribute to regional cooperation in three areas: culture, education and scientific exchange, and sustainable development.

The deadline for submitting project proposals is April 20, 2026. More detailed information about the call is available at: https://westernbalkansfund.org/8th-call-for-proposals-is-now-open-apply-now/, while additional questions can be sent to info@westernbalkansfund.org no later than 15 days before the submission deadline.
