Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj received today the newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Montenegro Michael Keays.

The two officials highlighted the importance of the commitment demonstrated by both the Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Economic Development, led by Minister Gjeloshaj, to expanding and deepening economic relations between Montenegro and the United States through the Memorandum of Economic Cooperation, signed in Washington in October 2024.

The Memorandum of Economic Cooperation provides the foundation for all future economic and bilateral initiatives that will contribute to the economic growth and prosperity of Montenegro, Deputy Prime Minister Gjeloshaj noted.

The interlocutors also expressed satisfaction with the partnership in drafting an intergovernmental (G2G) agreement, which, once signed and ratified, will represent a tangible outcome of the Memorandum of Economic Cooperation. The agreement is expected to open the door to increased U.S. investment and serve as a driver of Montenegro’s economic development.

Chargé d’Affaires Keays thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Gjeloshaj for his strong efforts to further deepen economic and trade relations between the two countries, as well as for promoting constructive economic dialogue.
