Ministar Radulović talked with the European Parliament MPs: Montenegro is important friend and partner of the EU, future of Europe is with Western Balkans

Montenegro is important partner and friend of the EU in the Region that has great geopolitical significance for European future – as stated today at the meeting between Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović and MP of the European Parliament Tonino Picula. Head of Montenegrin diplomacy stays in Brussels, as member of delegation at the NATO Summit that has been held yesterday, which was headed by Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić.

Minister Radulović stressed the importance that EU integration process has for stability and social progress of our country, while emphasizing that Montenegrin society is affected to the political West, so that citizens of Montenegro see its future only in the Europe.

“We are part of rich cultural heritage and we believe that we are proving our commitment to the joint European future with endeavors that we undertake on daily level, within our reform processes”, he stated. 

As he emphasized, the Western Balkans expect that European partners more intensively support the integration process of our Region, while expressing belief that by organizing the Intergovernmental Conference for Montenegro, EU will send clear political signal that enlargement process remains highly on the list of its priorities.

MP Picula welcomed intensifying of activities and overall endeavors of Montenegro in pre-accession negotiations, while expressing belief that more open approach will lead to more qualitative reforms, thus concrete results in areas that are basis for democratic processes. As he stated, EU will support all our attempts of our country, directed towards EU membership.

During stay in Brussels, Head of Montenegrin diplomacy met also with European Parliament MP David McAllister. On that occasion, Minister Radulović informed collocutor about reform processes in country, while expressing belief that political and expert support of our partners will remain unquestionable in achieving main foreign policy goal of Montenegro – membership in the EU.

“Implementation of European policies is core of our reforms, and for achieving highest standards we expect further assistance of our friends from Europe”, Head of Montenegrin diplomacy stressed.

MP McAllister reminded that Europe stays with the Western Balkans’ region, so that will continue to promote European agenda on this place. Role of Montenegro in that regard is very significant, as a state that proved maturity and responsibility in negotiations hitherto, bearing in mind every constructive critic and suggestion. We look forward to our joint future and believe that unity of Europe is possible only through promotion of enlargement of our family on Western Balkans - McAllister stated.

During meetings, collocutors talked about forthcoming Intergovernmental Conference, planned for June 22nd, as well as on current events on the European political fora with focus on epidemic and economic recovery.
